Photometric observations of emission B-stars in the southern Milky Way
In order to study the distribution of Be stars and their correlation tothe local spiral structure of the Galaxy photoelectric UBV photometrywas carried out for a total of 488 Be stars located in the southernMilky Way between galactic longitudes 315 and 45 deg. UBV magnitudes arepresented for these stars.

Close visual binaries. I - MK classifications
Each component of 170 close visual binaries has been classified with newprocedures for controlling contamination problems. These classificationsare presented and are shown to be on the MK system. Two sources of areascanner UBV photometry were compared in order to establish homogeneousphotometric as well as spectroscopic data. From a consideration ofsystematic errors in the V magnitude difference (Delta V) betweencomponents the photometry of Hurly and Warner (1983) is to be preferred.Absolute magnitudes for each binary are derived from Delta V via atested MK - M(v) map.

Fourier deconvolution of electronographic images
The Fourier deconvolution process is discussed with reference toelectronographic images. A technique is described for measuring theseparation, position angle, and magnitude difference of binary starimages and for investigating fine optical structure in galaxy images. The method is used to measure the binary stars HR 5234, HR 5697, HR5851/2, HR 6236, and H 4707, as well as to analyze the optical-imagestructure of Cygnus A.
